ScholarshipUniverse Frequently Asked Questions:

What is ScholarshipUniverse?

ScholarshipUniverse is a single source for Ohio State and external scholarships. Using your reported information, ScholarshipUniverse finds relevant scholarship opportunities, simplifying the search so you can focus on applying for more scholarships to help pay for your education and avoid taking on debt.

How does ScholarshipUniverse work?

Students log in to ScholarshipUniverse through Buckeye Link using their Ohio State username (lastname.#) and password. Students then answer questions that build their profile, which is matched to multiple scholarship opportunities through a personalized portal. ScholarshipUniverse matches students with various scholarship opportunities and alerts them whenever they match to a new scholarship opportunity. Students login through the secure portal to check their application statuses, look for scholarship opportunities and more. See user instructions and tips.

Do I have to be an Ohio State student to use ScholarshipUniverse?

ScholarshipUniverse is open to currently enrolled students as well as incoming students. Students may apply as soon as they have their OSU ID and Ohio State username (lastname.#). How many profile questions do I have to answer?

The more profile questions you answer, the more scholarships you might be matched to now and in the future, so you are encouraged to answer as many as you can.

How often do I have to fill out the application?

ScholarshipUniverse continuously searches for matches based on your student profile in the tool and alerts you via email, but you must update your profile each year when the application reopens with information not captured in your student data, such as personal interests.

Can I verify my application was submitted?

Yes, application status can be viewed through the student portal within ScholarshipUniverse. Click the Applications icon on the left side of the page to see if applications are Ready to Start, In Progress or Submitted. Select the Submitted tab to see which applications have been submitted for that awarding year.

I submitted my application. Can I make edits to my essays or upload a different document?

Yes, you can make updates to your application prior to the scholarship deadline. Once the deadline has passed, you can no longer make updates. We highly recommend reviewing all documents and applicable scholarship deadlines prior to submitting your application.

Why can't I edit some of my matching criteria?

Some of your account details cannot be edited because the information is loaded directly from your student profile with Ohio State. This information is accurate and up to date.

Can I be awarded more than one scholarship? Is there a maximum amount I can receive?

Award amounts can vary and can typically be combined with other merit scholarships and financial aid awards. However, a student may not receive aid that exceeds their cost of attendance.

Why can't I find a specific application for my college or school?

Many Ohio State college offices and departments offer scholarships or grants that are not listed in ScholarshipUniverse. Contact your college office or review departmental scholarships for details.

Can I start my application now and finish it later?

Yes, as long as you do not submit the application, you can save it and finish it later. To finish later, you can find your "In Progress" applications in the Applications tab.

I received an email requiring my attention. How do I get more information?

Any tasks that you are required to complete can be done directly from your ScholarshipUniverse profile under the "Action Required" section of your Dashboard.
